Sometimes I'm So Absent-Minded It's Scary

So the other day, I experienced another one of those typical moments of stupidity. You know what I'm talking about. Those moments that everyone experiences when they're focused on something else, or too tired to stay focused on the task at hand.

Yesterday, I had one of those moments where I lost something that wasn't really lost.

And then you run around looking like a moron, trying to find them.

And then you realize! Somebody must have STOLEN them!!!

And then of course, someone points out the obvious: That your sun glasses are on your head, and would you please get a grip. Then you brush it off like you knew that all along, and you were just joking. And you swear to yourself that you will never do that again....until you decide to go take the dog on a walk later that day, and once again cannot find something.

Seriously, I don't know why my friends put up with me.

Sometimes, It's Not My Fault

I sometimes make embarrassing mistakes like this one time, when I lost a necklace that Tyler gave me.

It was a present. I was really excited when he said he had a present for me.

I was extremely pleased when I opened the box. It was a gorgeous diamond necklace. It looked something like this:

I immediately put on my fancy new necklace, and celebrated.

I wore my necklace 24/7. I never took it off. For months. And then, I went to a party. I wanted to wear a different necklace, so I took it off, and set it on my bedside table. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. When I got home, I was too drunk to remember to change my jewelry. I went straight to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, It was GONE. I looked EVERYWHERE!

....Then it occurred to me....What would Tyler think??? He buys me a fantastically gorgeous piece of jewelry, and I LOSE IT??? Where did it go? I left if right there! Why is it not there any more? Did I put it in the jewelry box? My drawer? Did I set it in the living room? WHERE WAS IT??? I was so SURE that I had left it placed on my bedside table where I would now where to find it! It didn't just get up and walk away!!!

I had to think of a plan. Tyler could not find out.... I had to play it cool...

For weeks, I simply didn't wear any jewelry. Every time I caught him looking at me, I wondered if he knew....if he noticed....I became suspicious, and high-strung...

Eventually, I broke down and told him.

And so the search began anew. Eventually, we did find the necklace, together. Tyler lifted on end of the bed off the floor, so I could more thoroughly search beneath it. And lo and behold, there it was. My necklace. In a tangled knot, beneath the dark, cavernous depths of my bed.

The moral of the story: Sometimes, things really do get up and walk away!

....Stupid Cat. Darn you, Teddy!

Catch Me

I've been struggling a bit these last few days. I've felt unmotivated and low energy.

Didn't get the job I applied for, and I was completely surprised. So...now my summer plans are uncertain...I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I think I'll figure it out.

There is a family problem that I'm not really at liberty to talk about, and I'm...concerned about it. I think everything will be okay, but...I'm not sure.

Tyler and I had an argument, which we did settle then, but...I'm still stressing about it a little bit. I'm not convinced that the real problem is fixed, or even really addressed. Dr. Carr said that I'll be training Tyler the rest of my life, which was entertaining.

Had a session with my therapist this morning before class, and now I do feel much better, which is a relief. I just need to remain positive. I WILL figure out what I'll do for the summer.... just not after I give myself time to think about it.

For now, falling avoided. =)

Blah blah blah...

And so I begin with entry number two.

Last night was stressful. Talked with Tyler about Wow. Started another sewing project while I still have access to a sewing machine. Began watching House. Watched Project Runway. I wish the person that stayed had been sent home. Then it was time for bed, but I couldn't find my cellphone.

Tyler and I tore the apartment apart looking for it. No luck. I get very frustrated, angry even. Went to bed very upset. Woke up in a better mood. After all, my classes today were both canceled.

Had a phone appointment this morning, then I worked on my newer and older sewing projects for most of the morning. Called the fabric store, I did indeed leave my phone there. I picked up the phone, and have spent most of the remaining afternoon watching House, Season 1. All very exciting.

I think I'll keep working on my sewing projects soon.

In other news, my friends and I are going to Scarborough Fair next weekend, and I'm very excited! =)
